The do's and don'ts of the Melbourne Show

Recently, I went to the Melbourne Show 2013. I have been to the Melbourne Show each year for as long as I can remember and I will share some tips I have learnt over the years.

Do: Visit exhibitions there
This year, Masterchef Australia was filmed in Melbourne, on the show grounds. As a Masterchef fan, it was opportunity not to be missed.

Don't: Buy everything
A lot of the products people sell are over priced and poor quality.

Do: Go on rides
But decide if it's worth the price before going on.

Don't: Forget to bring a backpack
Make sure you're prepared with a water bottle and jacket. You can dehydrated easily because of all the walking you do and the hot sun also contributes to it. You should bring a jacket because the weather can change dramatically.

Do: Arrive later in the day
If you come in the afternoon or in the evening, there is generally less people, which means shorter lines and smaller crowds.

Don't: Be lured by the lights
The prizes for the games and challenges are cheap toys, made in China or Taiwan. They cost between $0.50 and $5 at a 2 dollar shop, it costs $5 - $10 for a chance to win a prize.

Do: Explore the pavilion
And buy a show bag.

Don't: Miss out on seeing animals
There are animal pavilions and shows around on the grounds.

Do: Try the food

Don't: Avoid watching a show / race / animal judging

Do: Stay to watch the fireworks
